SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE
Through the study and repair of historic buildings, whether of brick or stone, timber-framed, or iron and glass, Jonathan has sought an understanding of the extra-ordinary skills and wisdom of past craftsmen, practicing traditional building methods, with the intention that such knowledge should inform his conservation work and enrich his contemporary design.
The practice is committed to the stubborn retention, conservative repair and creative adaptation of historic structures. Acutely aware of the need to retain a building’s authenticity, the practice is never-the-less ready to argue for wider intervention, where this will allow a building to be retained in useful service.
Jonathan A Law also offers a historic buildings consultancy service, providing advice and support to owners and professionals in the planning and implementation of projects in sensitive contexts.
